Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury has recounted the time in which he met Melbourne star Brad Green when he was a young child.

Pendlebury was a big fan of Green's after growing up as a Melbourne supporter, but said his perception of the 254-gamer changed after a asking the forward for an autograph at a local clinic.

At a clinic in Pendlebury's hometown of Sale, a young and eager football fan just wanted a signature from one of his heroes, but was snubbed instead.

"I was a Melbourne supporter," Pendlebury told the Jock and Journo Podcast.

"They did a clinic in Sale and they had a poster of Brad Green and they did all their signings and stuff and they left to the carpark.

"I chased them down and he was putting his bag into the back of the boot and I had one poster and I said 'excuse me Brad, could you sign my poster for me, I’m a big fan' and he goes, 'sorry mate, the clinic’s finished'."

The Pies skipper didn't have to wait too long after becoming an AFL player to bump into Green again, as Collingwood played Melbourne in Pendlebury's second match.

"I never mentioned it to him," he said.

"I always think, you didn’t sign my poster, you a***hole.

"I didn’t want him to get a touch that day, but he still got a few."

Green responded on Twitter and told Pendlebury he had heard the podcast, and decided to make it up to him.
