O’Brien signs two year contract extension

Hawthorn youngster Tim O’Brien has re-signed with the club until the end of 2017.

O’Brien has managed only four senior games since being drafted by the hawks in the 2012 National Draft.

However, the new contract is a sign of Hawthorn’s faith in O’Brien’s development over the past two years..

Hawthorn list manager Graham Wright told AFL.com.au that the club was very pleased to secure the key forward on a two year deal.

“We think he’ll eventually play a lot more football for us and hopefully be in the team for a long while,” Wright said.

“That said, we’re certainly also hoping that Tim can get into the team at times this year and hopefully when he does he can cement a spot.”
