The Kangaroos have lost two on the trot to arguably two of the best sides in the competition in Geelong and Hawthorn.

And things don't get any easier this week, with a trip to Adelaide to face the Crows, and they could be without a host of key players.

Luek McDonald has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, while Daniel Wells (ankle), Ben Cunnington (corked quad), Jarrad Waite (hip) and Andrew Swallow (concussion) are all still in doubt.

Waite, Cunnington and Swallow all missed the Roos' loss to Hawthorn on the weekend and will have to prove their fitness during the week before being named in the side to face Adelaide.

Meanwhile, Wells suffered an ankle injury during the loss and McDonald pulled his hamstring after a brillaint chase and tackle on Hawks' speedster Cyril Rioli.

"Luke McDonald is the major concern there, it's pretty safe to say he definitely won't play this week," coach Brad Scott told reporters on Monday afternoon.

"He's being assessed as we speak for something we hope is not too serious, but it's serious enough for us to seek a surgical opinion.

"He's the most pressing concern for us at the moment."
