Hal Hunter is unlikely to be the only Essendon player to launch legal action against the club, according to his lawyer.

Prof Patrick Keyzer told 3AW Radio in Melbourne, that Hunter, who is currently being treated for depression and anxiety, will be the first of many players to consider taking action against Essendon.

Hunter says his depression is a result of not knowing what he was injected with during the Bombers' controversial supplements regime in 2012.

"Well, I had a psychological analysis and that's what they told me, that there was a direct link between the two," Hunter told Fairfax media.

"From what I was told from my psychological analysis and the psychologist that I see regularly, and I know myself, the anxiety comes from all the unanswered questions, all the possibilities that arise from the supplements program that I was involved in and that day to unanswered questions, the anxiety around that, obviously has huge impacts on my life. It's not something there I can switch off, go to work, go 'I'm not going to think about that.' It's always there."

Prof Keyzer says that he expects other players will be facing similar difficulties.

"I understand that a lot of players are legally represented and a re considering their options...I would be very surprised if there weren't other players who are experiencing the same sort of difficulties that Hal has," Prof Keyzer said.

"Hal doesn't know how this is going to affect his future.

"Imagine you have this black hole in your medical history."
