Young Demons tall Luke Jackson has signed a contract extension with Melbourne until the end of the 2022 season.

Jackson was taken with the third overall selection in the 2019 AFL Draft and played six games in his debut season with the Demons.

The 19-year-old provided great flexibility for Melbourne in 2020, taking on roles in the ruck and as a forward.

A hamstring injury cut Jackson's season short, but he will be primed to return to the senior side for Round 1 next year alongside Sam Weideman and new recruit Ben Brown.

“Luke has already shown the impact he can have at AFL level this year,” General Manager of Football Facilities & Administration Josh Mahoney told Melbourne Media.

“His agility, competitiveness and hunger to get better has impressed everyone at the club and we are excited to watch his development.

“Luke joins, Kozzy (Pickett) and Trent (Rivers) as young draftees from the 2019 draft who have signed contract extensions.”
