Fremantle free agent Chris Mayne has decided his football career needs a fresh start and will meet three Victorian clubs next week as he tries to settle on a new football home.
AFL.com.au has reported Mayne will meet Collingwood, Richmond and North Melbourne, having decided to call time on his career at Fremantle after nine seasons.
It is believed all of Mayne’s suitors are yet to put an official offer to him, but his football future will become a lot clearer after next week’s meetings.
Mayne is an unrestricted free agent so Fremantle is powerless to stop him from moving to the club of his choice.
However, the Dockers will likely receive a compensation pick for the medium forward that could be as a high as a second-round selection if, as expected, Mayne attracts offers around $500,000 a season.
