Mark McVeigh is set to take on a role with the Swans' academy after departing GWS following the season, per the Herald Sun.

McVeigh took the reins as interim coach early in the season after the departure of Leon Cameron, coaching the Giants for the remainder of the season for a total of four wins. The 41-year-old joined the process to take the top job officially at the club, but the role was eventually given to Adam Kingsley.

Following Kingsley's appointment, McVeigh confirmed that he would be leaving the club after nine years.

Cameron meanwhile was announced as the new coaching director of the Academy in September following his 193 games in charge at the Giants. Considered as a contender for the Essendon job, Cameron opted to remain in Sydney that pursue a fresh AFL senior coaching position.

The experienced coach began his tenure at the Swans in November, now joined by McVeigh ahead of 2023.

Established in 2010, the Swans' Academy has fostered plenty of AFL talent, with Callum Mills, Isaac Heeney, Nick Blakey and Errol Gulden all products of the talent pathway.
