Malthouse spoke exclusively to Gerard Whateley on AFL 360, which will air at 8.30pm on Thursday night on Fox Footy, about his treatment and his relationship with key members of the Carlton board.

The three-time premiership coach also expanded on his comments regarding the Eddie Betts deal, as well as saying he should have been given “a bit more time or a bit less time,” by Carlton.

Malthouse also stressed that he told the AFL investigators that he believed CEO Steven Trigg was innocent of breaking any AFL rules.

“Broadly, I made sure that I thought Steven was totally innocent of any mischief,” Malthouse said.

“It was more about structures — this is how you set the thing up. If there was a slight boast in there, so? This is how it’s done.
