Collingwood star Jamie Elliott has suffered an injury setback, re-injuring his troublesome back.

Fox Footy has reported that Elliott, who has not played a game yet this season, re-injured his back at training on Thursday.

The latest setback will most likely see the 23-year-old miss the remainder of 2016.

Elliott has been slowly recovery from the back issue which has seen him miss the opening two months of the season, before he tweaked his back during a kicking drill last week.

He is likely to require surgery.

The high flyer was the club's leading goal kicker in 2015, booting 35 goals in 20 games.
