Collingwood recruiting manager Derek Hine has revealed that the Magpies have salary cap space for Adelaide star Patrick Dangerfield.

Speculation has been rife all season that Dangerfield will return home to Geelong in 2016 as a restricted free agent.

However, many believe Collingwood is also a key player in the Dangerfield saga, with Hine revealing that the Pies can accommodate the midfielder.

“We’ve got room in the cap,” Hine told SEN on Wednesday.

“We’re in a stage now where our list profile in terms of age and our games profile are in the bottom per cent of the competition.

“We need to be really strategic and targeted in terms of the players we attract.”
