Geelong big man Nathan Vardy has suffered what looks to be yet another serious injury in the VFL on the weekend.

Playing in the Cats' 78-point win over Essendon on Wednesday, Vardy went to ground in visible pain holding his left ankle, before being stretchered off the ground.

The 25-year-old has managed just 25 career games across a seven-year career, due to persistent knee, back and hip injuries.

He has played just one senior game this season after falling behind the likes of Mitch Clark, Rhys Stanley, Shane Kersten and Zac Smith in the pecking order at Geelong.

He is rumoured to be considering a move away from the Cats at season's end, with the Giants, Bulldogs and Lions all said to be interested in the ruckman/forward.
