Brisbane captain Tom Rockliff has hit out at recent media reports regarding the Lions, accusing reporters of trying to divide the playing he group.

Speaking on RSN radio on Wednesday morning, Rockliff criticised a recent article which suggested he was creating a rift between the playing group and coach, Justin Leppitsch.

"At the moment, we've lost 12 games on the trot and everyone's looking for answers," Rockliff said.

"And externally they're trying to almost drive a wedge into our playing group and into our coaching staff.

"I think one of the articles suggested that I'm driving a rift from the playing group to the coach, which is that far from the truth it's not funny.

"I think he's (Leppitsch) had to defend his job in every media (opportunity) that he does.

"He's been open with the players, he's been open with me and we continue to support each other."

The Lions have confirmed that Leppitsch will remain in charge for at least the remainder of the season, with his position to be reviewed by the board at the end of the year.
