Melbourne has suffered a blow with young midfielder Dean Kent facing over two months on the sidelines.

Kent will require surgery after tearing his left hamstring during Friday night’s 32 point win over Richmond.

Demons coach Paul Roos announced on Monday morning that Kent is likely to be out for an extended period of time.

“Kent is seeing the surgeon this afternoon and in all likelihood he’ll go in for a hammy tendon operation tomorrow,” Roos said.

Roos also said that the injury Kent sustained is very simlar to North Melbourne’s Nick Dal Santo, who is currently out injured and exepected to miss around 10 weeks.
