Kane Cornes has lashed out at Carlton (again) following the reported figures surrounding a deal between the Blues and departing Giant Zac Williams.

Williams told GWS that he would be leaving the club this off-season in a move to Victoria before eventually nominating Carlton as his club of choice.

Several deals have been reported for the move, with some coming close to seven figures, leaving Cornes to question the Blues' business for the 26-year-old.

“I don’t know what he is getting paid, but if the reports are correct, it is one of the most staggering trade deals I’ve ever come across,” he said on Footy Classified.

“To think that you could pay a half-back flanker $750,000-800,000 a year... I’ve heard upwards of $900,000

“This is another example why player wages need to be public because it does more harm for the players than good."

Fellow panelist Caroline Wilson debated Cornes' report, suggesting a fee for Williams was substantially lower.

"Kane I think your'e a bit of a broken record on that on," she responded. "I don't agree with you".

"I think in the end it's closer to $700,000, no more than $750,000.. it's huge money."

Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd suggested the Giants had offered Williams a similar figure before his decision to leave for Victoria.
