Gold Coast Chief Executive Mark Evans has confirmed the Suns' panel that will help appoint a new senior coach for the Queensland club.

After Rodney Eade left the Suns with three matches remaining in the final year of his contract, the search began for a new coach, while assistant Dean Solomon took over for the final three games of the season.

Now that the season is over, Evans has confirmed the five-person line-up.

Evans, as well as Gold Coast's General Manager of Football Operations Marcus Ashcroft, will lead the panel, with former Adelaide senior coach and ex-Director of Coaching at Carlton Neil Craig another senior member on panel.

Former Western Bulldogs Chief Executive Simon Garlick will be on the panel, as well as Matti Clements, who is the Director and Senior Pyschologist at Mental Edge Consulting, who the Suns contract.

“While the panel’s role will not be to select the coach, it will however be required to challenge the thinking and assess the applicants in what will be the first stage of the process,” Evans told goldcoastfc.com.au.

“We thought it was important to bring in fresh sets of eyes and Neil brings coaching experience to the panel, while Simon has been through the process previously, leading the Western Bulldogs selection process in 2014.

“Matti and Marcus are part of our football program and have great knowledge as to what we need in the role going forward.”
