Gold Coast Suns co-captain Tom Lynch will miss the rest of the 2017 season after injuring his knee against Fremantle on Saturday night.

Former St Kilda CEO Brian Waldron reported the news on SEN's Hungry For Sport on Tuesday morning, and suggested Lynch sustained a PCL injury and would miss the remainder of the season.

Lynch has played all 19 games for the Suns so far in 2017, and has kicked 44 goals and taken an average of 6.3 marks per game.

The news comes just hours after Gold Coast confirmed senior coach Rodney Eade would not have his contract renewed for next season.

Eade then decided not to coach out the remaining three games, which means assistant coach Dean Solomon is likely to take the reigns for the rest of the season.
