Dayne Beams will lead Brisbane into the 2018 season, after the Lions named their six-man leadership group on Wednesday night.

One major omission from the group would appear to be Luke Hodge, with the former Hawthorn captain to be used in more of a mentoring role.

The six-man group consists of Beams, Dayne Zorko (vice-captain), Stefan Martin, Allen Christensen, Ryan Lester and Harris Andrews.

The only omission from the 2017 group is Tom Rockliff, who is now in Port Adelaide's leadership group.

โ€œI couldnโ€™t be more happy to lead the group in 2018,โ€ Beams told lions.com.au.

โ€œLast year was a good learning experience for me. Twelve months later and Iโ€™m still really excited and enthusiastic about what this team can achieve.โ€

Lions coach Chris Fagan was pleased Beams was voted captain once again, after such a successful 2017.

โ€œDayne Beams has been a driving force in living and breathing the Clubโ€™s values & player trademarks since being installed as captain last year, and you can see the impact he has had on the football department as a whole,โ€ Fagan told the club's website.

The second-year coach was also thrilled with the remaining appointments.

โ€œAfter having such a successful season on-field last year, this is reward for effort for โ€˜Zorksโ€™ in his off-field attitude as well," Fagan added.

"Having recently played for Australia and been around the best players in the game, we know he will bring that strong work ethic and resilience to our group.

โ€œHarris Andrews was a natural selection as deputy vice-captain. A player that displays leadership beyond his youth, his on-field leadership with the backline is equally as evident in his off-field work.

โ€œFinally, the addition of Luke Hodge to our list will be very important to these young men. While he may not be officially part of the leadership group, he is there to be called upon if needed.

โ€œThe remaining group all bring their own strengths to round out an extremely capable group of leaders. Stef, Ryan and Allen all contributed mightily in 2017, and I look forward to the impact they will have on the group in 2018.โ€
