The Western Bulldogs will not secure out-of-contract Adelaide young star Jake Lever is odd-season, according to AFL.com.au.
AFL.com.au journalist Peter Ryan understands Lever told the club recently he would not be considering them anymore.
The Dogs were one of three main clubs in pursuit of Lever, with Melbourne and Collingwood now the two Victorian clubs supposedly leading the race for the 21-year-old.
"It's not just about team success, it's not just about money, it's not just about your family, it's probably a combination of three or four things," Lever told FiveAA radio recently.
Since making his debut in round six, 2015, Lever has played 52 games for the Crows, but has shown his potential this season.
Lever has become one of the game's best intercept marks in defence, and is sixth in the league for intercept possessions.
As well as Lever, the Crows will also have to deal with forward Mitch McGovern who is all out of contract at season's end, with both West Coast and Fremantle reportedly keen on his services.
