Former North Melbourne premiership player and Norm Smith Medallist Shannon Grant has been jailed for six months after pleading guilty to three separate counts of beating his ex-girlfriend.
Grant attacked the same woman three times in six months, with the first incident leaving the woman with bloody facial injuries after she was thrown into a fence by Grant.

During the second attack, Grant threw a beer bottle and the woman's head and took her phone, before choking her.
A month later, he would attack the woman once more, and drag her across a hotel room floor before stomping on her foot.
Following the ruling, Herald Sun journalist confirmed Grant's lawyer will lodge an appeal to see Grant apply for bail.
