Adelaide captain Taylor Walker has been ruled out of the Crows clash with Essendon this weekend.

Walker ended the match on the bench against Geelong last Friday night after sustaining an ankle injury in the final term.

The key forward failed to train on Thursday, but coach Don Pyke hopes he will miss only one match.

“Unfortunately, Taylor is not going to be available this week — that ankle pulled up a bit sorer than we’d hope,” Pyke said.

“But we’re hoping it’s only a one-week thing.

“The information I’m getting from the doctors is we’re hopeful it is going to settle down — and we expect it to be a week.

“He will probably start running later in the weekend to bring him up for next week.”
