Australia will host Ireland in a two-Test International Rules Series in November later this year, with matches to be played in Perth and Adelaide.

Adelaide will host the match on November 12 at Adelaide Oval, while Domain Stadium will host the second Test on November 18.

It will be the first two-Test series since 2013, after the 2014 and 2015 editions were both one match each, with Ireland the current holders of the Cormac McAnallen Cup after their 56-52 win two years ago.

In November last year, then AFL football operations manager Mark Evans said he was excited both countries continue to take the Tests seriously, and confirmed Australia's plans to select only All-Australian players.

"The one-off Test matches in Perth and Dublin over the last two years were two high-class encounters played in front of very strong crowds," Evans said.

"Australian and Irish fans have shown they want to see a spectacular and competitive contest played between the most talented AFL players and Ireland’s best Gaelic footballers.

"Restricting selection to only a player who has earned All Australian selection through his AFL career has ensured the prestige of playing in the International Rules Series."

After leading the team in 2014 and 2015, Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson will step aside, with Geelong coach Chris Scott taking the reigns with his assistants in Fremantle's Ross Lyon, and brother and North Melbourne coach Brad Scott.

“Having experienced this series as both a player and as a member of the coaching staff, I know first-hand how much this means to the people involved,” Scott said.

“To be able to represent Australia and to grow the appeal of the game with the best players coming together, is a tremendous honour.”
