Reports surfaced on Monday morning that recently retired Hawk, Luke Hodge, could be open to backflipping on his retirement plans and joining the Gold Coast Suns in 2018.

SEN reported on Monday that Hodge could sign a one-year playing contract before moving into a coaching role.

The 33-year-old has links to the Suns, with CEO Mark Evans formerly working with Hawthorn.

However, Hodge shot down the rumours this afternoon, explaining he has not spoken to the Suns about a possible move.

“When I got in the car this morning, I had about 15 text messages going ‘What’s going on?’,” Hodge said on the Better on Paper podcast with David Zita.

“My reply was ‘What the hell are you talking about?'.

“I think the connection there as far as (Gold Coast) goes is Mark Evans”

"I rang him for my 300th where we were having a bit of a function afterwards and I wanted to know if he wanted to come down because he's been a big part of my footy career.

"So that's the two times I've seen him in the last eight weeks. It was as big a shock to me as anyone.”

Hodge played 305 games for the Hawks and after announcing his retirement in July, ran out for his final game in the brown and gold against the Western Bulldogs last Friday night.
