Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has refuted rumours he could walk from the job early if the Power's finals prospects are dashed.

The South Australian club has managed just four wins in 11 games to start Hinkley's last year at the helm, with assistant Josh Carr to take over at the cessation of the season.

A recent report suggested Hinkley could leave his role if the Power's September hopes fall short, giving the Power to begin planning for life under Carr earlier than expected.

Quizzed on the report ahead of this week's trip to Canberra to face GWS, Hinkley laughed at the suggestion while standing firm that his stance to remain in the job hasn't changed.

"Why would you think iI'd be any different to what I was at the start of the year?" he said.ย  "(Nothing's changed) from my point of view.

"I'll be really strong on this. A lot of things get reported that are actually infactual. That's one of them.

"My commitment was to fulfil my obligation through the rest of this year to give the club the best position it can possibly be in for the next 12 months after, not before then.

"My focus is strongly on playing GWS and winning that game of football to keep ourselves going in this season, and we'll never give up on the chase, and I won't give up."

The Power will look to turn their season around after a 'well-timed' mid-season bye, with the club turning their attention to their final 12 games of the year.

Their squad to face the Giants this week could be impacted by the uncertain availability of four senior players, with Kane Farrell (knee), Josh Sinn (hip), Darcy Byrne-Jones (concussion) and Esava Ratugolea (hamstring) all in the mix.

Hinkley said a majority of the quartet are likely to get up for Saturday night's affair.

"There's a few (in the mix)," he said. "We want them to get through the session first and foremost, that's the critical piece.

"Darcy, in particular, he's feeling great. We were very lucky the concussion happened with a bye. We would expect he would get through pretty well.

"Kane will be the same. Optimistically, he'll be training today. He looks ready.

"Without going through them all individually, we're pretty optimistic we might get three or four that might be available."

Port Adelaide and GWS will clash at Manuka Oval on Saturday at 7:35 pm (AEST).
