Hawthorn has suffered another injury blow with captain Luke Hodge suffering a broken arm in the Hawks' 30-point loss to Geelong at the MCG on Monday.

The Hawks confirmed on Tuesday that Hodge will miss the enxt month and could be out for as long as six weeks after scans revealed he broke the ulna bone in his right arm in a collision with Geelong's Mitch Duncan in the last quarter.

"Our worst fears are realised, the X-rays showed a fracture of his ulna," football manager Chris Fagan said.

"We think it will take somewhere between 4-6 weeks at this stage."

AFL LADDER

The Hawks are already missing Jarryd Roughead (knee) for the first half of the season, and Brad Hill (wrist) and Liam Shiels (wrist) for at least the next month.
