The Hawthorn Football Club has confirmed that a second player is being investigated by Police over an alleged sexual assault.
On Friday, the Herald Sun broke the news that a Hawthorn player was being investigated by Police over an alleged sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman.
Th club released a statement on Sunday afternoon revealing that two players are involved in the investigations.
“Hawthorn Football Club can advise that Victoria Police made the club aware last night there is a second player under investigation for an offence that is alleged to have occurred on 9 Oct.
“Both players will assist police with their enquiries,” the statement said.
Hawthorn CEO Stuart Fox told the Herald Sun on Friday that the Hawks were aware of an investigation involving one player.
“I am aware of an investigation involving one player. We will obviously assist Victoria Police if needed,” Fox said.
The alleged assault took place in the early hours of Friday, October 9.
The alleged indent occurred at a house in Ashwood after the victim and the Hawthorn players met at a bar.
The incident was reported by the victim at Box Hill Police Station.
