The 23-year-old is said to have put contract talks with the Swans on hold last month, prompting speculation he could seek a fresh start next season.
Mitchell is seen as a perfect replacement to fill the void of the likes of aging stars Luke Hodge, Sam Mitchell and Shaun Burgoyne as they enter the twilight of their careers.
Mitchell has played 53 games with the Swans since being recruited as a father-son selection with pick No.21 in the 2011 National Draft.
He has out of contract at season's end and has averaged a career high 27.5 disposals playing every game this season.
