Richmond and Fremantle are dealing with the aftermath of their Friday night draw at Marvel Stadium, with the split points now set to have an impact on the structure of the final eight.

The final few minutes of the Round 19 clash were chaotic, with neither team managing to find a score to secure the four points, with Richmond coach Damien Hardwick conceding post-game that he would rather ditch the draw altogether.

"I think, to me, keep going until the next team scores," Hardwick said.

"Both sides have these ridiculous signs that we hold up with 30 seconds and ten seconds, and maybe it's just the next score.

"Look at today's game. That would have been interesting to see that (next score wins) but who knows."

The Tigers, like has been the case in recent weeks, had ample opportunity to win the game. Noah Balta had his shot on goal squandered when asked to play on by the umpire after using up his allocated time, while Noah Cumberland chose to play on instead of having a shot for goal just as the siren sounded.

"The last sixty seconds, you can look at individually but the reality is, Noah (Cumberland) gave himself a chance to win the game. The clock expired but he put himself in the right position," Hardwick told media post-game.

"Like last week, [we] learn from it. It's a challenging one to set up. We had ample opportunities, we had two shots effectively to try and win the game and got zero points for them.

"He's (Cumberland) disappointed, like any kid would be but the fact of the matter is it's a part of the whole equation. There's a number of things we didn't do that well tonight and there's a number of things we did.

"But we can sit there and look at the last play but we made some errors offensively and defensively which cost us goals the other way."

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir couldn't be drawn into giving an answer on what is sure to be a topic of debate in the coming weeks when asked about his stance on the draw.

"Play what the rules are," Longmuir said.

"Let the people in higher up places determine the rules and we will just play to them I suppose."

Both the Tigers and Dockers have respective injury concerns coming out of the drawn match, with Freo superstar Nat Fyfe ending the game on the bench. Longmuir confirmed post-match that the Brownlow Medallist is set to have scans after injuring his hamstring.

"He's a pro, he had a smile on his face [after the game]. He got around his teammates," Longmuir said.

"This is a road bump... We've gotten over his big injuries and sometimes when you're trying to come back and be really committed you can have little setbacks and that's all this is."

Richmond used their substitute in the final term, replacing Ben Miller with Maurice Rioli jnr, despite Miller not appearing to suffer any visible ailments. Hardwick confirmed that the young Tiger had suffered cramping in his calf.

"I think he had a calf, and was cramping significantly towards the end, but I think he tightened up in his calf as well so he might be OK," Hardwick said.
