GWS football director Jimmy Bartel has confirmed the Giants will unveil their next senior coach this week, with the three-horse race to eventually succeed the departed Leon Cameron set to conclude in the coming days.

The Giants have been in reported discussions with assistant coaches from Melbourne and Richmond in Adem Yze and Adam Kingsley respectively, while caretaker coach Mark McVeigh is also in contention for the position.

McVeigh's prospects are understood to have recently grown, however Yze has been touted as the front-runner for the vacancy for some time.

The pair, along with Kingsley, are set to imminently know their fate, with Bartel - the man that has led the Giants' coaching hunt - revealing an appointment is on the verge of being confirmed.

"In the coming week, this week," Bartel told RSN of the club's timeframe.

A very coy Bartel wasn't able to disclose a name for obvious reasons, but hinted a candidate was chosen.

"Yeah we've got a candidate... who is among three candidates," he said.

" There is a man among those three men.

"I think we've done a thorough process."

After missing out in their chase of in-demand coaching great Alarait Clarkson to North Melbourne, the Giants haven't faced competition for their leading candidates throughout their process, with Essendon coming late to the party after hastily moving for Clarkson and sacking Rutten last week.

The Bombers have flagged a desire to land an experienced coach, however will work through an external review to aid their coaching search. Should Kinglsey fall short of his pursuit for the GWS job, he could be an option for Essendon to consider.

Having plied his trade as an assistant since 2007 across stints with Port Adelaide, St Kilda and Richmond, Kinglsey boasts a stellar CV despite not having held the top job as of yet.

While GWS' decision is a matter of days away, Essendon are likely to be in no rush to name their new senior coach.
