Essendon’s Brendon Goddard has launched a scathing attack on those responsible for leaking confidential information about the club’s drugs investigation, labeling them “cowards” with “no respect”.

A furious Goddard said his teammates were “fed up” with their treatment.

“One thing (the players) have done the whole time is (retained) their integrity and their respect of the process — they’ve done it,” Goddard said on AFL 360 on Tuesday night.

“The constant leaks and … the bullshit that’s been written in a lot of areas and the cowards that continually leak stuff to people have no respect and no compassion for the players as human.

“They’re humans, they’re not just players, they’re not just footballers.

“(The people who have leaked) have no compassion towards the men that are going through it and they’ve got not respect for the process whatsoever.

“There’s only so much the guys can take. The guys … haven’t bitten once at any of this. Enough is enough. They’re sick of it. It staggers me to be honest.”
