Carlton has suffered a huge injury blow, with Bryce Gibbs ruled out for the remainder of the year.
Gibbs suffered a serious pectoral injury against Richmond, forcing the midfielder to undergo season ending surgery on Monday.
Carlton’s head of football Andrew McKay said Gibbs would make a full recovery after the surgery.
“If we let Bryce’s injury heal naturally, he would have still been out for up to eight weeks and could have risked further damage,” McKay said.
“By having the procedure now it will ensure Bryce is fully recovered and ready to go for the start of the pre-season.”
