Greater Western Sydney has moved quickly to extend the contract of No.4 draft pick Jarrod Pickett, adding another year to the West Australian’s deal before he has made his AFL debut.

AFL.com.au understands Pickett, who was the club’s first selection at last year’s NAB AFL Draft, will be tied to the Giants until at least the end of the 2017 season after deciding to lengthen his deal.

The third season on his contract was added to the standard two-year deal signed by all players picked at the national draft.

Pickett is yet to play his first game for the club, but is inching closer after being named as an emergency last week in the Giants’ heavy loss to West Coast.
