Luckless GWS forward Jonathon Patton has taken a big step forward in his recovery a from serious knee injury, resuming full training this week.

The 21-yeard old raptured his ACL for the second time in round 21 of last year, after previously sustaining the injury in just his 10th AFL game.

There is no specific return date in place for Patton, but the youngster said that he is comfortable with the way his rehabilitation is progressing.

“I’ve been training now for a while and I’m feeling really comfortable so I guess it’s just about whenever I feel right and my mind feels right to go out there,” Patton said.

“It’s just week-by-week. I don’t want to rush anything, I just want to get a really good training base first.”

Patton also said that his rehabilitation had been a lot better this time around.

“It’s pulling up a lot better from training and that sort of stuff so I’m backing up week-by-week training a lot better than I did last time.”

The former number one draft pick travelled to American in February of this year to work with renowned sports rehabilitation specialist Bill Knowles.
