Geelong veteran James Kelly is recovering in hospital after having surgery to repair his ruptured testicle.
Kelly sustained the injury after landing awkwardly in a marking contest during the Cat’s win over Richmond at the MCG yesterday.
The three-time Premiership player is expected to be released from hospital later today after the surgery was deemed a success.
Geelong’s General Manager of Football Steve Hocking said Kelly is recovering well from the surgery.
“All reports from the surgeon was that the operation was successful and now we will continue to monitor James over the coming days. Right now James’ comfort and wellbeing is our sole focus,” Hocking said.
The injury marred an otherwise impressive victory for the Cats, who led by as much as 32 points at the beginning of the last quarter, before holding off a late Richmond fight back to record a nine point win.
