Geelong captain Joel Selwood says the Cats’ aging premiership stars are still ‘hungry’ and can all play on in 2016.

Several of Geelong’s older players such as Jimmy Bartel, James Kelly, Matthew Stokes, Steve Johnson and Andrew Mackie are seen to be on the verge of being forced into retirement by the club.

However, Selwood has backed his team’s older stars to play on next season.

“I’d like them all to play on. I’ve been involved with these players the whole time and they’re very hungry (to keep playing),” Selwood said.

“But there comes a stage where the footy club needs to move on and take a different course.

“Whatever will happen will happen and we’ll back the guys in that are involved in that decision making.”
