Geelong lock in young defender

Geelong youngster Jed Bews, son of former Cats star Andrew Bews, has signed a two year contract extension, keeping him at the Cats until at least the end of 2017.

The 24-year-old struggled to break into the senior side in his first few years at the Cats, however, he has now established himself as an important part of Geelong’s defence, playing every game this season.

“There was no real decision, as soon as they offered it I was more than happy to take it,” he told the club’s website.

“I’m starting to feel a bit more at home in the back six, which is good.

“I’m starting to get some games together, last year I was in and out but this year I’ve been lucky enough to play every game so far.”
