Gold Coast co-captain Tom Lynch and Melbourne star Max Gawn headlines a strong crop of free agents that will come onto the market at the end of the 2018 season.

Adelaide vice-captain Rory Sloane and West Coast defender Jeremy McGovern are also set to become free agents at the end of next season, although the full list has not been released yet by the AFL.

The following list has been compiled by AFL.com.au, with the AFL set to reveal the full list of 2018 free agents early next year.

As it stands, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs currently have the most work to do between now and this time next year, with both sides potentially having five players enter free agency.

At the other end of the scale, Carlton (Marc Murphy), Essendon (Tom Bellchambers), Port Adelaide (Justin Westhoff) and St Kilda (Sam Gilbert) only have the one player to re-sign, while GWS are still two years away from their first free agency group.

A number of stars were recently taken off the free agency list, with Luke Shuey, Taylor Walker, Easton Wood and Jarryn Geary all signing new deals over the past few months.
