SEN's Garry Lyon and Tim Watson have thrown out the names of two free agents who could assist the Suns in making a genuine tilt at a top eight spot in 2022.
Sydney co-captain Luke Parker and Geelong serial ball-winner Cam Guthrie are both out-of-contract at the end of season 2021 and are yet to sign an extension with their respective sides.
Gold Coast have had a torrid season 2021, with only brief glimpses of what they are capable of amongst a truckload of lacklustre performances under coach Stuart Dew.

Despite looking like they might have found their stride with two wins in a row over Richmond and GWS, back-to-back losses in the form of a second half collapse against Queensland rivals Brisbane and a 98-point shellacking at the hands of Melbourne has again brought their ability into question.
With the aforementioned Dew now in his fourth season with the Suns and showing no real progression with Gold Coast there is real pressure on him to perform.

To remedy this, Lyon and Watson offered an idea to galvanise the young Suns and help them improve.
“Cam Guthrie, Luke Parker, two others, take them up there and embed them in that place," Lyon said on SEN Breakfast.
“They have reportedly invested most of their money in their young talent and they have to, or they can’t keep them.
“Parker will stay at Sydney I’m sure because that’s what Sydney do, but if it’s a money thing and just say hypothetically they can’t resolve it, Gold Coast needs the ability to go bang and get him in there.”
Guthrie has played 199 matches for the Cats and is 28-years of age - a player still very much in his prime years.
As Lyon pointed out, Parker seems set to stay in Sydney with the exciting side they are building, however being the same age as Guthrie and having played 231 games himself, it would be wise of Gold Coast to knock on his door and try convince him to come to Queensland.

Across the table, Watson agreed with the prospect.
“They’re exactly the type of soldiers that they need up there. Exactly the type,” Tim Watson exclaimed.
“The pedigree of those players, where they come from, the type of organisation they’ve been associated with, the type of team they’ve been associated with, the type of coaching they’ve had.
“It ticks all of those boxes for them.”
The Suns have a tidy midfield with the likes of Touk Miller, Noah Anderson, Jack Lukosius and Matt Rowell amongst others.
However, an injection of experience from two certified quality mids would go a long way in helping the Suns' young midfield develop into the stars they are tipped to be.
Gold Coast have three more rounds to build some momentum going into the off-season and face Carlton in Round 21, with Stuart Dew's side looking to spring a surprise on David Teague and his men.
