Victorian draft hopeful and tipped top 10 pick Will Phillips has revealed his future in the AFL is likely to come down to four clubs, with the teenager preferring to remain in Melbourne to start his career.

The Oakleigh Chargers product has been touted as one of this year's best midfielders in the draft crop and is likely to be taken as one of the first onballers come next Wednesday.

Phillips revealed that two Victorian clubs have expressed strong interest in selecting him, while as many interstate clubs were just as keen.

“I’ve probably nailed it down to about four clubs at this rate. Two interstate and two Melbourne based,” Phillips told SEN.

“I’m content with that. I’d be lying in saying my preference isn't to stay in Melbourne, but I think that speaks for all people in their own state.

“But in saying that I’d love to go interstate as well. It’s a wonderful opportunity and I feel I’d do really well in an interstate environment. All clubs have got good support networks around the players.”

Phillips touched on the level of pressure the potential recruits face when showcasing their skills to all 18 clubs.

“It was funny, you had all the recruiters up along the wing and all the way around to the goals,” Phillips said.”

“Every kick they were watching us and it felt like there was a lot of pressure there”.

Phillips averaged over 22 disposals per game in 2019 as a bottom age player for the Chargers.
