Former Richmond and Hawthorn forward Tyrone Vickery has put pen to paper with Springvale Districts Football club in the Southern Football and Netball League.

Springvale will make the jump up to Division 1 next season after finishing the season on top of the ladder.

They were on track for a flag tilt until Covid brought an end to the year before finals could take place.

Vickery makes the move after spending the 2021 season at Coleraine Football Netball Club where he bagged 14 goals in one game.

The jump up from SFNL Division 2 to the top flight is a significant leap and Springvale have brought in the 125 game AFL player to help bridge the gap.

Vickery said in a statement that he was thrilled to join the club and was keen for the new challenge.

“I am really grateful for the opportunity to join Springy Districts," he said.

"The environment and culture was very appealing to me. I have met many of the players and the enthusiasm for the job ahead in Division 1 is really infectious and I can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season”.
