Former Gold Coast Suns player Joel Wilkinson cut by NFL franchise

Former Gold Coast defender Joel Wilkinson has been cut by the Arizona Cardinals less than three months after signing for the franchise.

Wilkinson failed to impressive during the pre-season and was one of four players to be cut by the side on Thursday morning.

The 24-year-old signed as a cornerback in February, after quitting AFL to pursue a career in the NFL.

Wilkinson played 26 games in two seasons with the Suns, before he was delisted at the end of 2013, when he joined VFL side, the Northern Blues.
