Western Bulldogs ruckman Jordan Roughead looks to have avoided a serious injury following the side's loss to Melbourne in week one of the JLT Community Series.

Roughead landed awkwardly in a ruck contest in the opening quarter of the match and was helped from the field and took no further part in the game.

The club initially feared he had suffered a season-ending knee injury, however, the Herald Sun has reported that the premiership player instead injured his hamstring in the incident.

But the 26-year-old is likely to still miss the beginning of the regular season and is in doubt for the opening four rounds with reports he could be sidelined for as many as six weeks.
