Port Adelaide are understood to be nearing an announcement on their inaugural senior coach for their first season in the AFLW, with Collingwood's coach Steve Symonds reportedly in the sights of the Alberton club.
Symonds is currently contracted at Olympic Park for another season, but that hasn't kept the Power from expressing their interest in the South Australian.
Having just concluded his third season with Collingwood, Symonds has amassed a strong string of results with the Victorian powerhouse, having led the Magpies to successive finals finishes across the past two seasons.
The Collingwood senior coach was appointed to his current position after a stellar tenure with Norwood, having joined the Redlegs as the club's inaugural coach in 2016.
Symonds tasted premiership success in the SANFLW the following year before moving to the AIA centre for the 2020 season.
A return to his home state could now be on the cards, with News Corp reporting that Port Adelaide are expressing interest in Symonds' services.
The Power are yet to confirm any additions to their playing list for the coming season, which is anticipated to begin in August this year.
The club did appoint Juliet Haslam as their Head of Women'sFfootball last October, with a coaching appointment potentially next on their list.
The Power are expected to appoint a senior coach in the next two weeks, with state league coaches understood to be joining Symonds as potential candidates.
Adelaide Crows veteran Erin Phillips has been closely tied with a move to Alberton and could join the club in either a player or coaching capacity.
The Power will be joined by Essendon, Hawthorn and Sydney as expansion sides in an 18-team AFLW league later this year.
