Essendon's audacious primary trade demands from Carlton for star defender Adam Saad have been revealed.

After contemplating his future since the end of the home and away season, the speedster last week requested a trade to the Blues after agreeing to a reported five-year deal worth $650,000 a season.

According to The Age's Michael Gleeson, the Bombers asked Carlton for one of Charlie Curnow, Harry McKay or Sam Walsh in a swap for Saad.

Essendon's next demand was the Blues' first pick - No. 7 - and Tom De Koning.

Those requests were reportedly swiftly denied by Blues list bosses, who believe that their first pick by itself is overs for Saad.

Carlton have reportedly explored trade scenarios with Geelong that would see them split their first pick with two late first rounders.

Essendon list boss Adrian Dodoro is renowned for being a tough customer to deal with at the trade table, as seen last year when he denied Joe Daniher's move to Sydney after being underwhelmed by their offer.

Daniher is set to depart Essendon as a free agent during the upcoming November window to sign with the Brisbane Lions.

The Bombers are also juggling Orazio Fantasia's future, who is reportedly set to request a trade back to South Australia.

Meanwhile, Carlton are set to sign free agent Giant Zac Williams on a lucrative five-year deal.
