West Coast midfielder Elliot Yeo has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with osteitis pubis.
The star onballer hasn't played for the Eagles since Round 11 after an ongoing groin complaint.
Despite reports suggesting the 26-year-old was a chance to make a return to the Eagles come finals, the club have since decided to keep their midfielder in cotton wool.
“Unfortunately with Elliot we’ve reached a bit of a stalemate in terms of the progress with his OP,” Eagles football boss Craig Vozzo told the club’s website.
“We haven’t been able to elevate his training to the level required to give him the chance to play.
“The pain levels for Elliot are too great, and the medical advice is we’re better off taking a long-term approach, which we need to do.
“Elliot’s extremely disappointed, but we’re going to have to obviously put his season on ice.
“We’re obviously very disappointed too, but we had no choice in this circumstance. It’s the right thing from a medical point-of-view to get him right for the long-term.”
The Eagles are set to have stars Jeremy McGovern, Josh Kennedy and Luke Shuey fit for next weekend's clash against Collingwood.
“Good news with Jeremy, he’s tracking probably ahead of where we thought he might be at this point,” Vozzo said.
“He’s been doing a fair bit of track work with our rehab guys.
“The extra couple of days into our next game is going to be quite important and he’ll be a test later next week in anticipation of that game.”
