Livewire forward Jeff Garlett will miss Melbourne’s clash against North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena on Sunday, due to an ankle injury.

Garlett sustained the injury earlier in the week and was expected to play, but he pulled up sore on Friday and has since been ruled out, with second-year player Billy Stretch coming into the side.

General manager of football operations Josh Mahoney confirmed Garlett had been ruled out.

“Jeff got his ankle caught in a tackle on Wednesday. He pulled up well from that and didn’t look in any danger of missing the game, but unfortunately two days later, his ankle presented some soreness in a different area,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
