The dangerous bolts protruding from ANZ Stadium will be removed and regular safety checks from the AFL will step up following a back injury suffered by Hawthorn star Jarryd Roughead on Saturday night.
Roughead injured his back when he slid over the bolts in a drainage area behind the goals during Hawthorn’s big win over Sydney.
He was not seriously injured, but his jumper was ripped and his back was scratched by the bolts.
ANZ Stadium contacted an investigation after the incident and said that the bolts will be removed this week and that ground staff will conduct a full perimeter check of the arena.
