Adelaide captain Taylor Walker is in doubt for the Crows' clash with Essendon this weekend.

Walker suffered an ankle during Adelaide's loss to Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Saturday night.

Adelaide general manager of high performance Brett Burton told the club's website that Walker will have scans this week to determine the full extent of the injury.

"Taylor came off with an ankle injury late in the game. Obviously, we didn’t want to take any risks," Burton said.

"For precautionary reasons, Taylor was in a moon boot yesterday.

''We’ll get some scans on that and have further information in the next few days.

"We’ll be able to make a call on that later in the week."

Meanwhile, defender Daniel Talia is expected to take his place in the side this week, despite sitting on the bench in the final quarter due to a corked thigh.
