Former Richmond coach Danny Frawley has endorsed Essendon as a potential top four side in 2019.

Frawley said on SEN "look out next year" following the Bombers' 16-point defeat to Collingwood on Sunday.

Devon Smith, Zach Merrett and Andrew McGrath all starred and all are 25-years-old or younger.

Whilst many had the Bombers finishing in the top eight after playing finals last year along with the recruitment of Jake Stringer, Adam Saad and Smith in the offseason, Frawley believes Essendon will be a major factor in 2019.

โ€œItโ€™s going to be a disappointing year if they donโ€™t make it (finals), but look out next year," Frawley told SEN Breakfast.

โ€œTheyโ€™re building, theyโ€™ve still got Hurley, Hooker, they need to play finals.

โ€œThey could quite easily miss it (finals) this year and go straight to the top four next year.

โ€œIf they were a stock right now, I reckon theyโ€™re a much needed buy.โ€

Essendon are still a chance to play finals this year but with a wealth of young talent will look to challenge in the coming years.
