Former Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni believes there is "a bit of a concern" surrounding the future of Blues captain Patrick Cripps, with a report suggesting the 25-year-old plans to end his career in Perth.
Silvagni suggested that Carlton may have failed to land an extension for their superstar midfielder, with a deal likely to have been placed on the table for the West Australian.
“I’ve got no doubt the club would’ve tried to re-sign him this season,” Silvagni said on SEN.
“I think there’s always a bit of a concern. But he’s the captain of the football club so I think that comes into play massively I reckon.
“I think a lot really depends on Carlton’s season next year – that would I think have a fair bearing on Patrick’s decision … he would dearly love to play finals,” he said.
“I’ve got no doubt he would be extremely delighted to get an Adam Saad and Zac Williams on board.”
Cripps will be out of contract at the end of next year after signing a three-year contract with the Blues in 2018.
Journalist Kim Hagdorn told 6PR that Cripps is keen on finishing his career in Perth, with both West Coast and Fremantle remaining interested in his services.
