Collingwood star Jordan De Goey could be the latest AFL player to come under fire for a high bump, with the Match Review Officer expected to assess an incident involving the Magpies midfielder and young Eagle Elijah Hewett.

During the opening term of Saturday's clash between the Magpies and Eagles, Hewett collided with De Goey after gaining possession at pace, with the Collingwood onballer bracing for a bump before making contact with the teenager.

Footage of the incident sees De Goey's left arm/shoulder make contact with Hewett high, leaving the young Eagle on the ground and in the care of club trainers.

Hewett was able to eventually rise to his feet and made his way off the field before receiving further assessment. West Coast would soon rule out the first-year player from the remainder of the match after failing a head injury assessment.

A concussion to Hewett will spell danger for De Goey when the MRO releases their findings on Sunday, with a suspension likely looming for the Brownlow chance.

De Goey's actions are likely to be graded as high contact and careless conduct, with the grading of impact likely to decide the severity of the charge.

A grading of low impact, while unlikely, would see De Goey escape with a fine, while gradings of medium impact (one-match ban) or high impact (two-match ban) are seen to be more suitable for the incident.

A single game off would mean De Goey is unavailable for selection for Collingwood's King's Birthday clash against Melbourne in Round 13.

A two-game suspension would mean De Goey is unable to play until Round 15, with the Magpies scheduled for a bye the week after their encounter with the Demons.

The MRO has handed down gradings of 'severe impact' on multiple occasions this year, a grading that would see De Goey referred to the AFL Tribunal for a minimum three-game ban.

De Goey has been one of the competition's premier players this year, currently sitting fourth in the AFL for coaches votes.
